Race information:    There will be cut off times at certain checkpoints to ensure that all participants make it to the BBQ after the race.

Team Composition:    This year we will be having three categories of teams.  Solo male/female, 3 person and 4 person co-ed teams.

Race Support:     A minimum of one support member with vehicle per team.  If you know of someone who would like to volunteer please have them contact Fitness Adventures.

Equipment List:    The list below is the mandatory equipment broken down by event. Each team will be inspected prior to the race start. Teams will not be allowed to proceed that do not have the required equipment.  It is very possible that there will be certain random equipment checks at certain checkpoints. As in any outdoor race the elements can be unpredictable. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best!

-Hiking boots or trail running footwear

-Full length pants or tights (preferably wind proof/water resistant)

-Dry waterproof/ resistant jacket

-Full finger gloves

-Lighting (flashlight or headlamp)

-Extra battery for your light

-Whistle

-2 Compasses (per team) 1 for Solo

-2 Liters of drinking water

-Matches or means of starting a fire

-1 first aid kit (per team)

            -steri-strip bandages(6)

            -adhesive tape (1 roll)

            -5”x5” mole skin or blister pad (1)

            -Tweezers (1)

            -Antibacterial Towelettes (5)

            -2”x5’ gauze roll

            -2 Triangular Bandages

Ropes course Equipment (per racer unless noted)

Note: There will be an optional out (with time equalization)  for those not able to attempt the ropes.

 

-Approved climbing harness (must be fitted)

-2 locking carabiners

-Rappelling device ATC preferred although figure 8’s are acceptable (No improvisations, i.e. Munter Hitch or Carabiner Brake)

-Full finger gloves (preferably with leather palm)

-3 single blade paddles or double bladed paddles (per team)

Food and Water

Will need your own water supply. Separate water may be kept in canoe and left in transition. You should carry adequate food for each leg of the race (e.g. Energy Bars, GORP and Gels). Your support team may supply you with other food in Transition Areas

General Rules and Regulations

1.        All participants must sign the appropriate race waivers as provided at the time of check-in.

2.        All participants and teams must race with the mandatory individual and team equipment that has been approved at the gear check.

3.        At the pre-race meeting all teams will be provided with race details, directions and maps approximately one hour prior to the race start time. Each team captain must be present at this meeting.

4.        All teams must travel together at all times during the race and cannot be separated by more then 100m. All teams must start, travel and finish the race together. (failure to do so may result in penalties or disqualification).

5.        All teams will travel with a race "Passport". This passport must be time stamped at all checkpoints in order for the team to have an official finish, unless otherwise instructed.

6.        If one team member cannot continue the race for any reason then the other two or three team members must stay with that person until a staff member is present and/or informed. At this point the team is disqualified but they may elect to continue the race and finish as an unranked team.

7.        Any contact and/or assistance to a team competing, by support staff, friends, family, spectators will result in disqualification from the race. Assistance by other teams is acceptable.

8.        A support team of two are allowed at designated transition locations and/or we can supply limited support to teams without crews. (May Change as per above)

9.        There will be cut-off times for teams to reach each checkpoint and finish the entire race. If teams do not meet these cut-off times they may be asked to withdraw and return to the Home Base.

10.     Race results for the top finishers will be announced after the race during the awards ceremony and complete detailed list will be posted on the Results page  after the race.

11.     All race rules and regulation are subject to change, and any decisions made by race director are final.
